Almost there...
We'll keep the questions as short and sweet as we can, but each one is important to get you the right information.
Next question...
Are you a member of an association that holds an Article 16 Authorisation?
Currently only the following UK organisations hold an Article 16 Authorisation for their members.
BMFA (British Model Flying Association, including the British Drone Flyers).
LMA (Large Model Association).
FPV UK
Yes
No
NOTE: Not all Article 16 Authorisations are the same. It is the recommendation of this website that the BMFA offer the best all round membership package and value (link at the bottom of the page to the British Drone Flyers website).
NOTE: Article 16 Authorisations must be renewed annually by the association to remain valid for you to use.
Is joining an association actually worth it?
In a nutshell, absolutely...
Firstly, regardless of what drone you want to fly from micro up to 25kg in mass, all of the approved associations have memberships that bring various benefits, from public liability insurance for your flights, to increased freedoms for flying. For example, under Article 16 you can fly in recreational areas with drones you can't use under the Open Categories.
This site recommends joining the British Drone Flyers as part of the BMFA (link in footer). It is our view that the BMFA offer their member's the best insurance, support and general alround membership value.
